Deutsche Bank: Main Sponsor of the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale |
At the 52nd Art Biennale in Venice, Deutsche
Bank will be this year’s main sponsor of the German Pavilion for
the first time. Tessen von Heydebreck, member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank AG, whose responsibilities include the bank’s global social and cultural commitments, said: “The German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale is not only the most important forum for the contemporary art of our country, but also the most controversial. Here, the Pavilion reflects not just seminal artistic positions, but also the various points of view on our national culture and history.” Responsible for creating the German contribution this year is the artist Isa Genzken. The relationship between Deutsche Bank and the artist first started through the purchase of works on paper and photo series in the 1990s. Since then, she has been involved in numerous ways with Deutsche Bank’s art activities, including the project proposal “Weltempfänger” (World Receiver) for the “Moment” art series, launched by Deutsche Bank to bring art into the public space. Deutsche Bank will also be supporting the implementation of Isa Genzken’s contribution for the “skulptur projekte münster”, which she will be taking part in for the third time. We can look forward to a very promising art event that will both challenge and inspire the international audience – and that is precisely what we hope to achieve in our début as the main sponsor of the German Pavilion.” For Isa Genzken, providing the German contribution for the Biennale means a long-held dream is coming true: “I have often imagined creating for the German Pavilion. And now it’s probably the ideal time to actually do it.” For more than 25 years, Deutsche Bank has been making exceptional experiences with contemporary art possible under the motto “Art at Work”. The aim of this programme is to provide staff members, clients and guests of the bank new perspectives on the present. With more than 50,000 works of art around the world, Deutsche Bank today maintains the largest corporate collection. Together with the Solomon R.
